Lane's End Farm Creamery Chocolate Milk

Remarkably subtle-- and that's not a euphamism for bland. Upon first sip, its extremely lithe yet creamy base dances on the palate and leaves you with dark-ish cocoa footprints that form a cumulative indulgence rarely experienced in potable dairy confection. There's a maturity to the experience-- led by the uniquely delicious cocoa flavor, and enhanced by its confidence to challenge two traditionally commonly held chocolate milk paradigms-- (1) sweetness ie essential [false], and (2) the thicker the better [also false]. Drink this with deliberation, savor each sip, and be better for the experience.

Royal Riverside Farm Chocolate Milk

Chocolaty, creamy, sweet, salty-- all primary chocolate milk flavors are amped up and surprisingly well-balanced given the strength of each. Its creamline base shines in the latter third of the sip, and warmly gilds whatever surface happens to grace. The (relatively) thin viscosity seems to add velocity to the flavor, as it hits early and often and leaves no tastebud unsatisfied. When you eventually reach your last sip-- wait for the buttery grassiness that rounds out the final, deliciously lasting experience.

Rising Sun Dairy Chocolate Milk

An upfront salty hit pops the warm creaminess that continues shine throughout, escorting the malty cocoa flavor everywhere it needs to go. There's a fully-burdened velveteen texture and a uniqueness to the experience, which has real cachet with someone who has had nearly 1,800 different chocolate milks to this point. Overall, an extremely well conceived and executed drinkable dessert.

Schoch Dairy & Creamery Schocolate Milk

Deliciously buttery creamline base determined to hug each individual tastebud with a warm cocoa embrace. Such a well-balanced concoction that needs nothing more than your time and attention-- don't chug this stuff, don't multitask while drinking it, I would even say don't have it with food (it just gets in the way). Consume this and let it consume you-- you'll be better for it.

Green Acres Creamery Chocolate Peanut Butter Milk

Delicious onslaught of chocolaty, peanut-buttery, creamy goodness that does the combination justice. It takes advantage of its slightly less viscous (than its peers) texture to deliver brilliant, punchy flavor early and often to whatever surface it graces. Absolutely loving this right now, it will wake up your tastebuds without feeling heavy-handed-- it will bring a mid-sip smile to your mouth and gleam to your soul.

Nash Creamery Chocolate Milk

Lots to love here-- medium cocoa flavor over a solidly-built, densely creamy base and a sweet/salty balance nicely tipped in favor of the latter. But for me, the star of the show is the buttery, grassy sustain in the latter third of the sip and into the aftertaste-- a perfect homage to its origins, and an extra dimension of flavor that is rarely attained in our world of mass-produced chocolate milk.

Collins Farm & Creamery Chocolate Milk

Nicely developing flavor where the initial salty/malty punch seamlessly flows into cocoa crescendo in the latter half of the sip. The creamline base is fully burdened with flavor, without feeling bogged down by added thickness-- in a word, it's 'dessertily indulgent.' Ok so that's two words, but one of them I made up, so really it's still just one. Just try it.

Woodbourne Creamery Chocolate Milk

Neat combination of sharply salty/malty with a heavily creamy girth to it. Usually 'malty' cocoa flavor tends to be on the lighter side, but this carries a much more amped-up taste and finishes with a resolutely salty pinch and dusting of grit on the tongue. Damn fine stuff.

Country View Creamery Chocolate Milk

Pitch-perfect creamline body that dances beautifully along the palate, delivering a medium-to-malty cocoa flavor with a smooth buttery snap on the back end. Each sip gets better, and before you know it, you've cracked open the 2nd pint. Effortlessly delicious.

New Pond Farm Chocolate Milk

The darker, slightly more mature cocoa flavor is uniquely indulgent and further accentuated by the graceful undersweetness, which makes this feel noticeably more desserty and sophisticated than your average ham-fisted over-sweet mass-produced chocolate milk. There's a bit of a dusty footprint on the back end, a conscious reminder of what it takes to deliver strong cocoa flavor in a dairy base.

Indian Creek Creamery Chocolate Milk

Velvety creamline body with a gorgeous salty lick at the end which puts a bow on each and every rewarding sip. Chocolaty, warmly creamy-- it's got 'soul' that is not often understood until tried. Delicious from start to finish, this will have you asking incredulously why anyone ever decided to homogenize milk.

Amish Country Dairy Chocolate Milk

Fleeting upfront saltiness that sets the tone for the deliciousness yet to come. I absolutely love the (thin) texture to (high) creaminess ratio-- it drinks quickly but remains indulgent throughout. The cocoa flavor won't beat you over the head, but the cream flavor and its luxurious lithe-ness will.

Blue Ribbon Dairy Chocolate Milk

Immediately flavorful, with a well-proportioned sweet/salty balance that does well to support the medium-to-malty cocoa presence. It feels fully burdened and its thickness is more than warranted by the cream content. If you've got a chocolate milk itch, this will scratch it to a highly satisfying degree.

Dorothy Lane Market Chocolate Milk

Excellently warm and buttery with a bright cocoa presence that is somehow both supported by and supporting the cream-- it just works well together. From first sip to the very last, it's consistently rewarding and should satisfy anyone's creamline chocolate milk craving with relative facility and grace.

Miller's Bio Farm Raw Chocolate Milk

Paralyzingly brilliant (low) viscosity to (high) creaminess factor-- it drinks like a dream, disperses perfectly, and carries a grassy character throughout that pays respectful homage to its pastoral origins. The cocoa flavor is present more so in the latter third of the sip, and then exists gracefully to a stronger, more durable buttery cream presence that continues to gild your inner oral cavity with warmth. Shake it early and often, as the cocoa settles quickly, and rest assured the connection to your food may never have been so intimate and direct.

Countryside Creamery Chocolate Milk

Fantastic combination of buttery cream with a grassy homage, and a favorable cocoa-to-sweetness ratio-- this drinks phenomenally well and just 'feels right.' There's a solid, flavorful heft with everything you want in a chocolate milk and nothing you don't.

River Bottom Dairy Chocolate Peanut Butter Milk

Gorgeous representation of my favorite flavor combination. Sweet and chocolaty up front, with a lasting peanut buttery burn that ages more gracefully than Helen Mirren. I'm not sure I'll be able to say the same for myself after I drink this whole bottle in an afternoon. Drinkable dessert, what more could you want?

River Bottom Dairy Chocolate Milk

Beefy frame, plenty sweet, and an exciting 'wild' side-- yes, chicks will dig this, but so will anyone else lucky enough to try it. It's chocolaty up front, sweet through the middle, and finishes with a wild, grassy note that ties everything together and whets your appetite for more. In a world where novelty in chocolate milk is sometimes challenging to find, this brings a dropkick of indulgence followed by a blinding ray of hope for those paying close attention.

Nice Farms Creamery Chocolate Milk

Paralyzingly creamy from initial contact through to blissful repose-- it has one of the most luxurious textures I've had the pleasure of experiencing to date, gilding any and all surfaces with buttery Jersey cream. Flavorwise, it leans more malty than overtly chocolaty. Its warm afterglow lasts minutes beyond the pint; I suspect that the impact on your soul will last significantly beyond that.
