Rising Sun Dairy Mocha Milk

Alas-- mocha milk done right! It's well-balanced with both a cocoa and coffee presence, and a sweet/salty ratio appropriately in favor of the latter. The base is still very much milky (as it should be) rather than a watered-down, washed out caricature of what mocha often is. I am a coffee drinker and coffee lover, and I would gladly replace my morning cup of joe with this stuff.

Garry's Meadow Fresh Chocolate Milk

Sharply salty with a buttery, creamy girth that is not for the faint of heart. One of the thicker chocolate milks I've had in recent memory, so fans of an authentically beefy base take notice. The cocoa flavor plays third fiddle after the cream and salt, and it tends to arrive late and leave you wanting a bit more. It's deliciously unique, both from flavor and texture profile, and it doesn't take much to satisfy. The experience ends cordially with a warm and slightly grassy goodbye.

Le-Ara Farm Chocolate Milk

Medium-to malty cocoa flavor over a warm creamline base-- deliciously well balanced and a breeze to sip-- I'm nearly two pints in and finally remembered that I need to write the review. In short, if you like non-homogenized chocolate milk, you may not be surprised, but you won't be disappointed here.

Harmony Acres Dairy Chocolate Milk

Warmly creamy base and well-rounded across the board, this is a worthy steward of the creamline chocolate milk mantle that I've come to love so much. Easily drinkable and effortlessly indulgent, why anyone would homogenize milk these days is beyond me.

Nash Creamery Mocha Milk

Deliciously balanced representation of the mocha flavor with a chocolate presence on the front end and warm, lasting coffee simmer on the back end. The creamline base does its job extremely well in a supporting role, and a pint goes surprisingly quickly though my intent was to savor it as I would my morning cup of joe. I'll do it with the next pint, I promise.

Bad Farm Chocolate Milk

Gorgeously creamy base that is more than up to the task of delivering deliciousness straight to your brain stem. It starts with a punchy sweetness that remains prominent for the first 2/3 of the sip, then it gives way to the cream flavor which surges in the latter third and sets the tone for the aftertaste. In my experience, the cocoa flavor is tertiary (*fancy word, I know) but pleasantly malty while it lasts. It's unique, and feels brilliantly on the palate; alas I should have bought more.

Windy Hill Goat Dairy Chocolate Milk

Velvety cream with a wild goaty homage that provides unique depth to each sip. The cocoa is curtailed by a sharp(ish) salty/maltiness that feels like it belongs with the rest of the package. In short, this is a structurally sound, delicious chocolate goat milk worthy of your time and attention.

Cummings Farms Chocolate Milk

Approaching a sharp-ish maltiness that feels desserty and is nicely delivered by its substantial but lithe, non-homogenized base. The flavor distributes quickly and strikes mainly to the rear sides of the tongue, making each swallow a purposeful deliverance of yum.

Sweet Grass Creamery Mocha Milk

Despite being a lover of chocolate and coffee individually, much of the choco-coffee synergy is unfortunately lost on me. That said, this remains a well-balanced (and well-caffeinated) treat that is worth the caloric opportunity cost. If mocha is your scene, do not pass 'Go' or collect $200, go directly to Sweet Grass Creamery and pick some up.

Terra Firma Farm Creamery Chocolate Milk

Begins and ends with a delicious buttery essence to the cream, which does its job with care and reverence, and could shoulder a fair bit more flavor if asked. The lightly malty flavor that is there plays a supporting role to the cream and results in a uniquely tasty treat that doesn't need to employ gimmicks to be memorable.

Seven Sons Farms Chocolate Milk

Leads with cocoa-- a strong, sourish / mature cocoa flavor seizes your tastebuds right away and takes you on a uniquely tasty journey that ends with a clean aftertaste, ultimately whetting your palate for another draw. Both under-sweet and under-salty, it's well balanced and affords the chocolate flavor the lion's share of the limelight. The only chocolate milk I've seen to date that has 'butter' as an ingredient-- I can't pick it out per-se, but bonus point for the novelty!

Volleman's Family Farm Chocolate Milk

Beefy and full of cocoa flavor- this is a lot to take in at once, but I'm more than happy to oblige. The sweet/salty balance is appropriately tuned and does well to support the strong medium cocoa flavor that is the main feature and treated with the reverence it deserves.

The Waldo Way Raw A2 Chocolate Milk

Massive chocolate presence, resolutely on the dark/mature end of the spectrum-- and it hits you early and often (and even stays late!). Its thin body (like many raw milks) delivers the flavor rapidly and with uniformity-- and to an extent, feels overburdened with the task, as there is a noticeable cocoa grit that you will feel throughout. Super unique from both a flavor, texture, and even visual standpoint-- it's a fun one to try, and I recommend seeking it out if you're a fan of drinkable dark cocoa.

River Bottom Dairy Cookies & Cream Milk

Noticeably more lithe than the chocolate milk, and delivers a truly accurate and not cartoonish cookies and cream flavor. It has me longing for bits of Oreo solute and the underratedly fun 'panning for gold' process of oral sieving (?). Definitely one of the best CnC versions I've reviewed, and a worthwhile extension of the River Bottom Dairy portfolio.
